Kel Smith doesn’t write about music for a living. He once killed a mole with a potato while living in Italy, and he hasn’t eaten a raspberry since he was six years old. These events are unrelated.

Mr. Smith is the author of the book Digital Outcasts: Moving Technology Forward Without Leaving People Behind, published in 2013. The second edition of Digital Outcasts was released in June 2026.

In addition to his feigned writing career, Mr. Smith also pretends to be a sound designer and composer of crepuscular, post-classical, ambient-glitch-something music under the moniker Suss Müsik.

For his day job, Mr. Smith spends much of his time going to meetings and repeatedly explaining things to people. He is not a fan of awkward hugs, Las Vegas, professional wrestling, fluorescent lighting, or harpsichords.
